Album Review: Alison Wonderland – Run

Run by Alison Wonderland

#aotd is Run by Alison Wonderland. This album is a pretty straight-up EDM album which differentiates itself from other albums in the genre with the higher prominence of singing and less drop-focussed song structures. Don’t be fooled though, this album is chock-a-block full of bangers galore. The bass hits hard and thunderous and there are great drops in almost all of the songs. If you want an album that is danceable and bangs then yeah go listen to this already but how great an album is doesn’t depend solely on how much it goes off. The biggest negative about Run is it’s sparse and cold production which makes the album too repetitive and not as textured as I’d like. Alison adds a bit of colour into the mix with her singing but her performance is a bit hit or miss, at times she sounds like a temptress hanging behind the mix in the songs begging you to come closer, other times though she just sounds bored. If you are looking for an album that will sound great on your speakers and will go off at parties then go grab this but if you are looking for something more than a bit of fun you may come away a bit underwhelmed.
