Album Review: OJ Law – Let’s Be Adult

Let's Be Adult by Oj Law

#aotd is Let’s Be Adult by Oj Law. This album presents a fairly familiar retro indie-pop sound with Law’s soothing falsetto riding the waves of synth-driven instrumentation. The album is very danceable, with most songs maintaining smooth mid-tempo grooves. Unfortunately, the album is very repetitive with Law often repeating the same refrains over and over again on many of the songs. His vocal performance does the job but it would have been interesting to hear him change his delivery a bit more to avoid the repetition. Lyrically, Laws deals with themes of lost love and regret in a way which is actually surprisingly refreshing for a genre that prominently features stale lyrics. While it can get repetitive Let’s Be Adult is a pretty fun indie-pop album that is definitely worth checking out if you are a fan of the genre.
